Is it permissible to marry a woman from the People of the Book who believes that our Master Jesus, peace be upon him, is God, or that he is their Lord, or who believes that God is one of three, or who holds any other polytheistic or idolatrous beliefs?

The Jews and Christians are undoubtedly disbelievers. However, the Shari'ah has made an exception for them from other disbelievers regarding the permissibility of a Muslim man marrying their chaste women and consuming their slaughtered animals, based on the Almighty's saying: (This day [all] good foods have been made lawful, and the food of those who were given the Scripture is lawful for you and your food is lawful for them. And [lawful in marriage are] the chaste women from among the believers and the chaste women from among those who were given the Scripture before you, when you have given them their due compensation). This specifies the Almighty's saying: (And do not marry polytheistic women). It is stipulated that the Scriptural woman must be chaste (virtuous), and it is preferable for a Muslim to marry a Muslim woman of religion due to the risks involved in marrying Scriptural women.
