What is the ruling on marrying an internal medicine doctor, and is it possible to build a Muslim family with her and raise righteous offspring, and am I entitled to stipulate her stay at home?

The most important qualities to seek in a woman are her religiosity and good character. If trustworthy individuals commend her, then a righteous Muslim family can hopefully be established. The wife's desire to work does not contradict this, especially if there is understanding between the spouses. If the wife did not stipulate her work at the time of the engagement, then she must remain at home unless her husband gives permission. If the husband wishes to avoid conflict, he may stipulate that she leaves her job after marriage. However, if her work is impermissible, then she is absolutely obligated to leave it. It is also advisable to perform Istikhara (prayer for guidance) and seek consultation.
