What is meant by "acquaintance" in the verse: "And We made you peoples and tribes that you may get to know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you"?

Ibn Kathir said: "Meaning, so that they may come to know each other, and each returns to their tribe." Al-Shawkani said: "The benefit of acquaintance is that each person can be identified by their lineage, not for boasting about genealogies."
