The answer

It is forbidden to fast on the two Eid days (Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha) by scholarly consensus, just as it is forbidden to fast on the days of Tashreeq, which are the three days after Eid al-Adha, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "The days of Tashreeq are days of eating, drinking, and remembrance of Allah." An exception to this is a pilgrim who does not find a sacrificial animal (hady); it is permissible for him to fast on the days of Tashreeq.
