What is the ruling on watching circus acts, where magic might be mixed with hidden movements, and how do we distinguish between them?
A Muslim is advised to turn away from looking into such matters and to employ their time and energy in what pleases Allah. The prohibitions of watching circuses and discussing magic and trickery have been mentioned in previous fatwas. And whoever cannot distinguish between what is forbidden and what is not should keep away from all of that, in accordance with the : "Leave what makes you doubt for what does not make you doubt." Even if these matters are free from magic and the viewing of nakedness, their least status is that they are considered idle talk (laghw), from which the has commanded us to turn away. Allah Almighty says: "And those who turn away from idle talk" and "And when they pass by idle talk, they pass by with dignity."
