If a woman is proposed to by someone whose religiosity and character are pleasing, then marry her to him. However, if she is proposed to by someone whose religiosity and character are not pleasing, then she should not be married to him. The crime of sodomy is one of the gravest major sins. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate and ascertain the sincerity of the suitor's repentance and his cessation of this act. If that is confirmed, then it is permissible to accept him as a husband. But if you doubt his sincerity or are apprehensive about his repentance, then you must reject him. It is advisable to perform the prayer and inquire about him from those who know him.
