The call to prayer (Adhan) has immense reward, but the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and his successors did not make the call to prayer themselves because they were occupied with greater and more important matters. Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, explicitly stated this, saying: "Were it not for the Caliphate, I would have made the call to prayer."
