Is a shoe with a British flag on it considered a cross, and is it permissible to own it, and what should be done if one already owns it?

The cross is a symbol for Christians, consisting of two intersecting lines (vertical and horizontal), with the upper part of the vertical line shorter than the lower. The majority of jurists dislike wearing anything that has a cross on it, and the Hanbalis and some scholars consider it forbidden. It is disliked to have a cross on clothes or similar items, based on Aisha’s statement: "The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would not leave anything in his house that had crosses on it without destroying it." It is not necessary to throw away something that has a cross on it; rather, it is sufficient to efface or scratch it out. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen was asked about watches that had a cross symbol, and he replied that it is obligatory to break a three-dimensional cross and efface a colored cross, because removing the cross is from the guidance of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and because it involves glorifying Christians and imitating them.
