Is it permissible to take a loan from an Islamic bank to purchase a house if the homeowner requests a portion of the price not mentioned in the contract, and then the bank buys the house with the remaining price to sell it to me?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
The buyer is not permitted to pay a portion of the price to the homeowner and have the bank complete the remainder, due to the suspicion of a usurious loan involved. Any previous contractual agreement between the buyer and the original seller must be genuinely cancelled, and the contract concluded between them should not be transferred to the bank.
