Is abandoning prayer considered disbelief if the person knows that there is a difference of opinion on the matter and that the ruling (fatwa) is that the one who abandons it out of denial is a disbeliever?
Praise be to Allah who enabled you to repent from this heinous abomination. You have not committed apostasy by this, according to our fatwa, even though you have committed one of the greatest destructive sins. Repentance erases the sins that preceded it. You are obligated to make up the prayers you missed, according to the majority of scholars. However, if you are afflicted with waswasah (obsessive whispering), there is no harm for you in acting upon the lighter opinion, which is that making up the prayers is not obligatory.
