Is it a condition for the Istikhara supplication to be recited with its Prophetic wording, or is merely naming the matter for which one seeks guidance sufficient?

It appears that the supplication for Istikhara (guidance-seeking prayer) is tawqifi (prescribed and unalterable), and the Sunnah regarding Istikhara is to use the reported supplication. However, a Muslim may supplicate to Allah Almighty and ask for their need using any words they wish, due to the generality of the evidence.
