Is marriage to the suitor, after repentance from adultery with him, valid? And must the adulteress repent and cleanse her womb? And is it forbidden to marry the one with whom one has committed adultery after repentance and cleansing, according to the doctrine of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah?

Adultery is one of the gravest sins, but sincere repentance erases the sin. If the engaged couple repent truly and sincerely from adultery, there is no impediment to their marriage after ensuring the womb is clear. As for unlawful actions that do not amount to explicit adultery, they do not prevent marriage and do not necessitate ensuring the womb is clear, but they are an ugly disobedience that leads to adultery. Therefore, one must repent from all such actions and avoid the causes of disobedience, especially being alone with or touching the fiancé or speaking with him unnecessarily before the legal marriage contract.
