Is it true that two angels say to the sleeper every night: "Conclude with good" and "Conclude with evil"?
Ibn Hibban and Abu Ya'la narrated from Jabir that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "When a man goes to his bed, an angel and a devil come to him. The angel says: 'Conclude with good,' and the devil says: 'Conclude with evil.' If he remembers Allah and then sleeps, the angels will guard him throughout the night. If he wakes up, the angel says: 'Open with good,' and the devil says: 'Open with evil.' If he says: 'Praise be to Allah who has returned my soul to me, and did not cause it to die in its sleep; praise be to Allah who withholds the heavens and the earth from ceasing to exist...' to the end of the verse; 'praise be to Allah who withholds the heaven from falling upon the earth except by His permission,' and then he falls from his bed and dies, he will enter Paradise."
Al-Haythami said: "Its narrators are the narrators of the except for Ibrahim bin Al-Hajjaj Al-Shami, who is trustworthy." As for the presence of an angel commanding evil, that is not correct, and we do not know of any that indicates it.
