Can an innovator (mubtadi') have a good ending?
It is possible for an innovator (Mubtadi‘) and a disobedient person (ʿĀṣī) to have a good ending. Even a disbeliever (Kāfir) may be granted repentance by Allah before death, and his life may conclude with Islam, for Islam nullifies what came before it. Evidence for this is the story of the man who killed ninety-nine souls and then repented, and the story of the Jewish boy who embraced Islam before his death. If this is true for a disbeliever, then it is even more so for an innovator and a disobedient person, for Allah’s favor is immense and His mercy encompasses all things. However, this is not for everyone, for many disobedient people and innovators have died upon their disobedience or innovation, and that is by Allah’s justice.
