What is the ruling on a husband taking his wife's bridal gold (shabaka) as a disciplinary measure for her disobedience to his commands, and refusing to return it unless she complies and obeys him?

A wife's obedience to her husband in married life is obligatory, and her disobedience leads to nushuz (disobedience/rebellion), which forfeits her right to maintenance and permits the husband to discipline her. Obeying the husband is one of the best acts of worship for entering Paradise. The shabka (wedding gift/jewelry) is either the property of the wife if it was part of the dowry or a gift she acquired, in which case the husband is not permitted to take it without her consent. Or it is the property of the husband if it was a loan, in which case he can prevent her from having it. Affection and harmony should prevail between the spouses, and they should strive for dialogue and understanding.
