How can a female relative be absolved of the money she owes to the shop owner, and of the consequences of destroying the indecent magazine he gave her?

If a merchant sells a commodity at an excessive overcharge, for example, selling something worth 50 Riyals for 250 Riyals, the buyer has the option to return the commodity and reclaim their money. This is known as the case of the "mustarsil," one who is ignorant of the value and unskilled in bargaining. Excessive overcharging takes the contract outside of normal practice, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "He who cheats is not of us."

If your relative accepts the overcharge and does not wish to return the fabrics, then she must pay the remaining price to the seller. If she cannot reach him or his heirs, she must donate the money on his behalf, while guaranteeing it to its rightful owners if she later identifies them.

As for the magazine containing obscene pictures, it is not permissible to sell it and it has no value, and no compensation is due from anyone who destroys it.
