Is it permissible to complete one's studies at a mixed-gender college if it is impossible to transfer to a non-mixed one, while adhering to Sharia guidelines?

Studying in mixed-gender educational institutions with impermissible mixing, such as universities, is not permissible except out of necessity or severe need, as it is a cause for temptation (fitna). However, if leaving the study or transferring to another university would cause harm or hardship to the student, and there is security from temptation, then it is permissible to complete studies there while avoiding mixing as much as possible and limiting one's presence in the university to what is necessary.
