How is the inheritance divided among a mother, three daughters, a wife, and the deceased's full sister?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The mother receives one-sixth due to the presence of a direct heir, based on Allah's saying: "And for his parents, each of them a sixth of what he left if he had a child." The wife receives one-eighth due to the presence of a direct heir, based on Allah's saying: "But if you have a child, for them [the wives] is one eighth of what you leave."

The daughters receive two-thirds, based on Allah's saying: "But if there are [only] daughters, two or more, for them is two thirds of what he left." The remainder goes to the full sister by ta'sib (agnatic inheritance), based on the hadith: "Make the sisters agnates with the daughters." The inheritance is to be divided into seventy-two shares.
