What is the ruling of Islamic law on dealing with a person who claims that Muslim jinn visit him, circumambulate him in Mecca, and visit the Prophet’s grave - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - in repeated dreams, and that they inform him of future matters, some of which have come true, and how can one convince a brother of this person’s deviance?

Should a man see in his dream that a Muslim Jinn circled with him in Mecca and visited the grave of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, there is nothing strange in this. A person may see things in his dream that cannot happen in reality. If his vision is truthful, then it is so; otherwise, he is a deceiver. As for him reporting future events, this indicates that he is among the soothsayers who deal with the Jinn to know some unseen matters. The Jinn snatch a word from the heaven and add to it a hundred lies. If this man claims knowledge of the unseen, then he is a disbeliever. Going to soothsayers and believing them is forbidden. Whoever goes to them and asks them, his prayer will not be accepted for forty nights. And whoever believes them has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.
