Is it permissible to dispose of bad food by feeding it to a poor or needy person instead of throwing it away, and does sin result from that?

It is best for a Muslim to give charity from the best of what they possess, based on the Almighty's saying: "You will not attain piety until you spend from that which you love," and His saying: "And do not aim for what is bad to spend from it." However, giving away something of lesser quality in charity is better than discarding it or not giving charity at all. If the food mentioned is fit for consumption, it is not permissible to throw it away; rather, it must be used or given to someone who can benefit from it.
