Is the wife sinful for demanding that her husband retrieve a sum of money he lent to his parents, who have performed Hajj multiple times, are financially well-off, and spend lavishly on his younger brother, given her fear for the money of her young children?

Parents have a great right, and showing kindness to them is one of the greatest acts of closeness [to Allah]. If a son wishes to lend money to his parents, he may do so. And if he foregoes the money out of devotion to them, he may also do so. The wife has the right to demand her own maintenance and that of her child, but she does not have the right to object to her husband waiving the debt for his parents, because he is the owner of the money and has the right to dispose of it in a way that pleases Allah. Allah may bless his provision because of his devotion to his parents. We advise the wife to help her husband in showing devotion to his parents to strengthen the relationship between them.
