Did Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) prostrate to a date fruit before Islam?

Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, did not worship idols made of 'ajwah (date paste) or dates, and what is rumored about this has no basis. He was a polytheist before Islam, then Allah blessed him with Islam, and "Islam obliterates what came before it." Allah the Almighty said: "Say to those who disbelieve, if they cease, what has passed will be forgiven for them; but if they return, then the custom of the former peoples has already passed."
