Is the mark on Maqam Ibrahim the footprint of Ibrahim, peace be upon him?

The Maqam of Ibrahim is the stone upon which the Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) stood when the structure was being raised. The imprints of his feet remained on it until the early days of Islam, after which they faded due to people touching them. Scholars have confirmed that the indentations currently present in the Maqam are not the original footprints of Ibrahim but are merely a marker.
