According to the majority of jurists, the expiation for an oath becomes immediately obligatory. Therefore, whoever does not find money should expiate by fasting. As for one who has absent money or a debt that is expected to be repaid, he should wait until his money becomes available and then expiate by feeding [the poor], because he is considered to be one who possesses wealth. The required amount of food is half a sa' for each needy person (approximately one and a half kilograms of rice), or feeding ten needy persons lunch or dinner, or clothing them with a shirt for each needy person.
