How can I be dear to God, so that He withholds the worldly life from me and increases my adversities and tribulations, as in the Hadith: "If you see God withholding the worldly life from you, and increasing your adversities and tribulations, then know that you are dear to Him, and that you have a high status with Him"?

This statement is not a Prophetic Hadith; rather, it is from the words of Abu Hamid Al-Ghazali. The greatest path to honor (Izzah) with Allah is for the servant to humble himself and submit to Him. For honor is sought from Allah alone, as He, the Almighty, said: "Whoever desires honor [then know that] all honor belongs to Allah." And whoever desires to be honored in this world and the Hereafter should adhere to obedience to Allah and strive in it.
