Is it permissible to call off the current engagement and contact the orphaned girl's fiancé to break off his engagement, due to unhappiness and a feeling of attachment to the orphaned girl?

An abundance of worry and anxiety may be due to a weak connection with Allah. A pre-marital relationship is impermissible; what is sanctioned is engagement (khitbah). If marriage to a specific girl becomes impossible, one must remove attachment to her. Cancelling an engagement is permissible, but it is preferable to fulfill it. If the fiancée is religious and of good character, it is advisable to complete the marriage and not pay attention to the whispers of Satan. It is impermissible to propose to a girl if she has already agreed to another suitor, based on the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "A man must not propose to a woman who is already engaged to his brother until he marries her or leaves her."
