1. Is it permissible for a girl who is engaged to drop out of university to wear the niqab, despite her parents' objection, given the harassment she is subjected to because of her commitment? 2. Is money earned from working in a company that uses unlicensed computer software considered unlawful?

A woman must cover her face if it is a source of fitna (temptation), and there is no obedience to parents in what contradicts this. If it is not a source of fitna, the preponderant opinion is that covering it is obligatory. However, it is permissible to uncover it to avert harm. It is not permissible for a woman to study in co-educational schools except out of necessity or a recognized need, provided that she adheres to Islamic guidelines. It is not permissible for a suitor to be alone with his fiancée, or to touch her, or to look at what is not permissible, except out of necessity. It is advisable to use wisdom in inviting to commitment and in dealing with the fiancée's parents. There is no harm in working for a permissible company, but it is not permissible to use software protected by copyright. We advise piety towards Allah and gentleness in all matters.
