What is meant by "its thorny plant is not uprooted" and "its trees are not cut down" in the description of the Sacred Mosque?

The sanctity of Mecca means that its fresh vegetation must not be cut, nor its trees felled. This prohibition extends even to striking plants with a stick to make their leaves fall. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, made an exception for the idhkhir plant.
