What is the ruling on congratulating someone on their birthday if it includes a supplication for good?

The fundamental principle is that a Muslim's supplication for their sibling, wishing them well and a long life, is beneficial if it is devoid of celebration. However, performing this act at the time of Christmas is an alien custom to Muslim society, involving imitation of and resemblance to the disbelievers.
