What is the ruling on working in the field of 3D animation within a team that produces cartoons or programs containing women, music, or drawings of animate beings, and is it permissible to purchase animate characters drawn by non-Muslims to use in these works?
The animated films you mentioned cannot be judged without knowing their content and objectives. It is permissible to produce and film animated cartoons that adhere to Islamic guidelines, promoting virtue, Islamic manners, and beneficial culture, and are free from forbidden elements. However, if they include forbidden matters, concepts that contradict Islam, or contain music or forbidden images, then their production and viewing are prohibited.
Purchasing permissible cartoons is allowed, analogous to children's toys, which scholars have permitted to be bought and sold. As for prohibited ones, it is not permissible to buy or sell them, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "And indeed, when Allah forbids something, He forbids its price."
Working with the team in this field is forbidden if it involves assisting and participating in the preparation of what is (forbidden) by Islamic law, and it is permissible if it is free from that.
