What is the Sharīʿah ruling on a husband demanding his wife leave the marital home against her will?

If a husband asks his wife to leave the marital home and forces her to exit, this is not permissible unless she has committed a clear act of indecency, such as rebellion (nushuz). The husband is obligated either to keep his wife with kindness and good companionship, or to release her with benevolence. The wife has the right to maintenance if she is expelled from her home, and she has the right to seek a divorce if the husband does not bring her back home and treat her kindly.
