What are the meanings of the gates of Paradise? Do those who pray enter only through the gate of prayer? Does each gate lead to a different Paradise? Are the gates related to the levels of Paradise? And what are the practical tips for salvation from Hellfire and entering the lowest levels of Paradise?

Clear Quranic and Prophetic texts state that Paradise has real gates, including those mentioned in Surat Sad (49-51) and Az-Zumar (73). There are also Prophetic hadiths describing the gates of Paradise and their types, such as the call for the people of prayer from the Gate of Prayer, and the people of fasting from the Gate of Ar-Rayyan. These gates are very wide, with the distance between their two doorframes being like that between Mecca and Hajar or Busra. The number of gates of Paradise is eight, as stated in authentic hadiths, including the Gate of Ar-Rayyan for those who fast.

The gates are designated for specific acts of obedience, so that those who excelled in a particular act of obedience, such as prayers, supererogatory prayers, jihad, and charity, may enter through them. The believer will be called from all gates as an honor to them. As for the causes leading to Paradise and distancing one from Hellfire, they are summarized in adhering to obligations and refraining from prohibitions. A Muslim can make it easier for themselves to abandon prohibitions by avoiding evil thoughts, shunning bad companions and means of sin, and associating with the righteous. To maintain obligations, a Muslim should protect them gradually with supererogatory acts, for continuous small deeds are more beloved to Allah than numerous disconnected ones, along with reliance on Allah, supplication, and reciting the Quran.
