What is the ruling of the Sharia on a husband who does not have intercourse with his wife for a year, and tells her that he does not see her as a woman?

The Shari'ah commanded the husband to treat his wife kindly, and this includes good treatment and fulfilling her rights. Among the greatest rights of a wife is her chastity, and the obligatory sexual intercourse should be according to her need and his ability. A husband's prolonged abandonment of sexual intercourse with his wife, causing her harm, contradicts kind treatment and is an injustice to her. It is also a sign of poor marital relations for him to tell her that he does not see her as a woman. The wife is advised to be patient, supplicate, and counsel her husband kindly, seeking assistance from wise people among his family and hers. If he does not respond, she can refer the matter to the Shari'ah court, so that the judge may order him to treat her kindly or to separate amicably.
