Is coronavirus considered a plague? And is it permissible, according to Islamic law, to come to Mecca when an epidemic suspected of being a plague is spreading?

The Coronavirus disease is not a medical plague (ṭāʿūn), as each has distinct characteristics, causes, and symptoms. There is no harm in performing Umrah and entering Makkah, because the prohibition of entry applies only to the plague, not to all epidemics. This is the view of the majority of scholars.
