Is it not strange that the incident of water gushing from his fingers, upon him be peace, which was witnessed by a great multitude, is narrated by only one or two? And does the author's statement, "And among them is what was narrated by the many from the many, continuously transmitted from those among the Companions who reported it," mean the frequent recurrence of mention of a single incident? And is it frequent recurrence from the Companion or from the Prophet, upon him be peace?

The non-transmission of an event through tawatur (multiple, independent chains of narration) does not necessarily imply its weakness. Many events that occurred before large crowds were not narrated via tawatur, yet their authenticity is established, such as the Prophet’s — peace and blessings be upon him — Farewell Pilgrimage, and the descriptions of his ablution and prayer. However, the Prophet’s miracles, such as water gushing from between his fingers and the multiplication of food, were transmitted through tawatur and widely reported across generations. These are considered to be among his definitively proven miracles.
