What is the ruling on praying upon the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, with different formulas, such as the Salat al-Tajjiyah and others? And is it permissible to recite: "O God, send prayers upon the Master of the Worlds, Your beloved Muhammad and his family, prayers of which You are worthy, and grant blessings and peace likewise"?

Firstly: Praying upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, outside of prayer is valid with any wording that signifies it, as long as it does not contain a religiously forbidden element or become a perpetual litany. However, within prayer, it is advisable to confine oneself to what has been authentically transmitted.

Secondly: Praying with the words "O Allah, bless the Master of the Worlds, Your beloved Muhammad and his family, a blessing that You are worthy of, and likewise grant peace and blessings" is permissible. However, the best and most rewarding is to adhere to the formulas taught to us by the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. The "Salat al-Tajiyyah" (Crown Prayer) has been forbidden due to its containing polytheism (shirk) and exaggeration (ghuluw).
