Is my repentance from speaking with men online acceptable, and am I accountable for the audio clip on YouTube which I did not publish, and is the obsessive-compulsive disorder that has afflicted me a punishment from Allah, knowing that I have repented and have not returned to this sin?
Praise be to Allah, who has accepted your repentance for this sin. Rejoice in the bounty of Allah, for one who repents of a sin is like one who has no sin. As long as your repentance has met its conditions, it is a sound and accepted repentance, by the will of Allah. The persistence of some traces of the sin will not harm you, nor will you be sinful because of it, as long as you have repented with sincere repentance. There is no need for these intrusive thoughts; rather, you must ignore them and turn away from them. There is no need for excessive self-reproach; instead, resume your life with diligence and vigor, strive in obedience to Allah the Almighty, and increase in good deeds that efface sins.
