The answer

If the duration of bleeding exceeds fifteen days, then you are in a state of (non-menstrual bleeding). If you have a regular period, count those days as menstruation and the days beyond that as istihadah. If you do not have a regular period but can distinguish the characteristics of menstrual blood, then consider the days you see those characteristics as menstruation, and the days beyond that as istihadah, provided that the distinguished bleeding does not exceed fifteen days. If you have neither a regular period nor the ability to distinguish, then estimate six or seven days as menstruation, based on the common practice among the women in your family, and any days beyond that will be istihadah. During the period of menstruation, you should abstain from prayer and fasting, and it is not permissible for your husband to have intercourse with you. After that period ends, perform (ritual bath) and wudu (ablution) for each prayer after its time has begun. All rulings applicable to pure women apply to you, and your husband is permitted to have intercourse with you during the period of istihadah.
