How long until a piece of gold becomes permissible for me after attempts to find its owner?

A valuable lost item (Luqata) that is keenly sought by its owner must be announced for a full year in places where it is likely to be found. It is not permissible to benefit from it before the completion of the announcement period. If, after the announcement, its owner is not found, you may benefit from it, and it will be held by you as a trust. Should its owner appear at any time in the future, it is obligatory to return it to him.
