Is a father entitled to demand his daughter's personal gold and prevent her from visiting him and her siblings as punishment for maintaining ties of kinship with her maternal grandmother and maternal uncles, who inherited from her deceased mother? And is it permissible for the daughter and her husband to cut off ties of kinship to please him?

All the wealth left by the mother, including gold, is considered an inheritance to be divided according to Islamic Sharia (definition): the husband receives one-fourth, the mother receives one-sixth, and the remainder goes to the children (with the male receiving the share of two females). The grandmother and maternal uncles erred by seizing the gold. The father is wrong in demanding the severance of ties of kinship and in preventing his children from visiting their siblings unless they give him the money; he is not to be obeyed in this. The children are not obligated to give the father the gold jewelry so that he allows them to maintain kinship ties, and the sin of preventing the connection between siblings falls upon him. Nevertheless, one must show piety towards the father, respect him, and pray for his guidance.
