Is drawing a horizontal line followed by a vertical line in daily activities—such as cutting cake, tidying the house, or bathing—considered the creation of a cross sign? Is this act linked to intention? And what if it genuinely requires drawing by hand, like cutting cake?

We advise you to dismiss these whisperings (waswas) and turn away from them. What you are doing is not intended to be a cross or to glorify it, and therefore it is not considered to be among the forbidden crosses. Sheikh Ibn 'Uthaymeen clarified that anything not intended to glorify the cross or be a symbol of it, such as mathematical signs or the plus sign on electronic watches, is permissible and not considered a cross. The plus and multiplication signs do not take the ruling of the cross.
