Marriage is one of the most guided ways to extinguish the fire of desire. It is recommended for those who are able to, and obligatory for those who fear falling into zina (unlawful sexual intercourse). It contains many benefits, so one should not turn away from it. Do not let bad experiences be an obstacle for you; rather, make a good choice by seeking counsel (istishara) and divine guidance (istikharah). As for masturbation, it is forbidden unless there is a necessity, such as the retention of semen with no way to discharge it except through it. This concession is for those who cannot find a way to marry.
