Is it permissible for a man married to more than one woman to have intercourse with one of them in the presence of the other, even if they do not see each other?
It is forbidden to have intercourse with one's wife in the presence of another wife who can see them. The Companions and their Successors disliked even hearing the sounds of intercourse. Ibn Qudamah mentioned that it is not permissible for one wife to have intercourse in a way that the other wife sees them, due to the baseness of such an act and its disregard for chivalry. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen stated that merely deeming this matter as disliked is questionable. If the 'awrah (private parts) are seen, it is forbidden. If the movement is seen without the 'awrah, it is closer to prohibition due to the degradation involved and the arousal of desire in the observer. An exception to this is a child who does not comprehend.
