We have previously mentioned the details of the scholars' views regarding what establishes fosterage. The majority opinion is that fosterage is not established by the testimony of a single woman.

The Hanbalis, however, hold that it is established by the testimony of a single trustworthy woman, meaning one characterized by truthfulness and uprightness.

Accordingly, if your wife's mother is truthful and upright, her testimony is acceptable and establishes fosterage. Consequently, everyone she mentioned as having been suckled with her becomes a maternal uncle to your wife through fosterage.

It is permissible for a foster maternal uncle to see what a man may see of his maharim (such as the head, neck, hands, and feet), and private seclusion and handshaking with him are permissible without suspicion.

It is stipulated that for the prohibition to be established, there must be five complete and satisfying sucklings within the first two years of life, according to the preponderant opinion.
