Is it considered an innovation (bid‘ah) to designate a specific day each month for congregational Qiyam al-Layl (night prayer) in the mosque, especially if this is due to the difficulty of constantly announcing times and to enable new Muslims to benefit from people of knowledge?

There is no objection to designating a night for gathering and worship, as long as it does not become an end in itself, believed to possess a unique virtue or distinction over other nights. In that case, it would become a forbidden innovation (bid'ah), based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Whoever introduces into this matter of ours that which is not from it, it is rejected."
