Is it permissible for a Muslim to give his Zakat to an endowment project, such as building an Islamic center to combat Christianization in Africa?

Zakat is a right designated for the eight categories mentioned in the Quran, and it is not permissible to allocate Zakat funds to other charitable projects, as that would remove them from the ownership of their rightful beneficiaries.

As for investing Zakat funds in income-generating projects, the Islamic Fiqh Academy has permitted this, provided that the urgent and immediate needs of the beneficiaries are met, and sufficient guarantees are in place to avoid losses.
