Is it permissible to pray on the mosque carpets that contain English words such as (sex), offensive drawings like the swastika and the regular cross, and pornographic symbols? And what is the solution to this problem?

The presence of a cross, or any accompanying symbols of disbelief or immorality, on clothing, carpets, or similar items, is considered disliked (makrooh) by the majority of scholars, and the preponderant view is that it is forbidden (haram). This is based on the report that the Prophet (peace be upon him) "would not leave anything with a cross on it without breaking it," meaning cutting it off.

If a Muslim prays in clothes that have crosses or symbols of disbelievers, their prayer is valid despite their committing a sin. This is because the prayer is not invalidated by everything that distracts the worshipper from it. This is supported by the Prophet's (peace be upon him) statement when a patterned cloak (khamisah) distracted him in his prayer: "Take this khamisah to Abu Jahm ibn Hudhayfah and bring me an anbijaniyyah, for it just now distracted me in my prayer."

It is desirable to remove anything that disturbs the worshipper's prayer. As for anything that contains a cross or a symbol of disbelief, it is obligatory to remove or efface it due to the prohibition of possessing it.
