Is it obligatory for the layman to deny imperfections from Allah, especially those he does not know if they are imperfections or not, and suffice with affirming what Allah has affirmed for Himself?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The believer must hold the conviction that Allah Almighty is perfect and free from any deficiency, affirming for Him what He has affirmed for Himself or what His Messenger has affirmed for Him, and negating from Him what He has negated from Himself or what His Messenger has negated from Him. Indeed, the Messengers described Allah with attributes of perfection and exonerated Him from any imperfections. As for the common person, a general belief in what Allah and His Messenger have conveyed is sufficient. They should entrust the knowledge of what is unclear to Allah and inquire from scholars about matters of their religion that they do not know.
