If I wanted to give my mother a gift, what should I give her?

The questioner should choose the gift most beloved to her mother and that which brings joy to her heart, according to the Prophet's (PBUH) saying: "The most beloved of deeds to Allah Almighty is the joy you bring to a Muslim." She can also ask her what she wishes for. The best thing to offer her is a sincere prayer in her absence, as Allah Almighty says: "And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, 'My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up when I was small.'"
