Is it permissible for a Muslim to work in pruning grapevines, knowing that they are used for making wine, without participating in that [process]?

Consuming alcohol (khamr) and manufacturing it are prohibited, as is assisting in it in any way, based on the hadith: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) cursed ten people regarding alcohol," and the hadith: "Allah cursed alcohol, its drinker, its server..." It is permissible to work in grape farms unless it is known that the grapes will be used for making alcohol. In that case, it is prohibited to work in cultivating or tending them, because it constitutes assisting in sin. Jurists have explicitly stated the prohibition of selling grapes to those who produce alcohol, and it is initially prohibited to cultivate types of grapes that are only suitable for making alcohol. Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas ordered the uprooting of grapevines that were only suitable for someone to press them into alcohol.
